Facilities The kennel facilities consist of a climate controlled building with indoor/outdoor concrete runs. Exercise areas, training areas, and obstacle course are adjacent to the kennel area. The facility setup offers realistic scenario based training that prepares the K9 team for real world deployments. This unique training environment offers the new K9 team the opportunity to receive the best training possible. We have numerous training areas within the building dedicated to specific training. Narcotics or explosive detection training is conducted on our large scent wall, portable scent training devices, and a diversity of room, furniture, and equipment scenarios give the K9 team every opportunity to train in realistic settings.There are numerous vehicles located in the building for vehicle searches. Many Patrol K9 team exercises can be trained within the building regardless of the weather. An indoor agility course, multiple stairs, a 10,00 sq.ft. slick floor area, total darkness areas, etc. offer  almost every conceivable environmental exposure challenge. Building search training is accomplished in various challenging settings that prepare the K9 team to conduct this exercise safely. Practically all apprehension training exercises, including vehicle extractions and vehicle deployment exercises, can be conducted within the facility. Over 15,000 sq.ft. is set up to allow Simmunition type force-on-force training that prepares the K9 team how to react in armed encounters. Lodging for attendees of our training courses is provided conveniently on-site. Our guest lodge, which also houses our classroom, is sleeping quarters for up to 15 people. The facility also has a full kitchen, dining area, and lounge area. While training days here are long and hard, your evenings and accommodations are guaranteed to be comfortable!   Training Grounds Our kennels, guest lodge, and training grounds are situated on 5,000 secluded acres surrounded by the Roanoke River in eastern NC. The terrain consists of fields, woodlands, ponds, impoundments, swamps, trails, and many miles of private roads. These diverse and isolated training grounds offer an ideal setting in which to conduct the various types of training we offer. Our training grounds include everything needed to expose dogs to many distractions and enticements during their training with us. We also train in many offsite facilities to duplicate urban or suburban working environments. Our large and varied training grounds and facilities allow us to accomplish practically all training functions on site. This means we do not use training time traveling to multiple training sites. Our training days are spent training. Typically this enables both handlers and dogs to progress in their training more rapidly. Greater training time equals higher quality K9 teams! Tracking/trailing training is begun in our rural setting and then moved to a suburban or urban setting for additional work. The various terrains, ground surfaces, and wildlife distractions located here offer the best possible training grounds for initial tracking/trailing training. Our wildlife detection enforcement training is conducted in the vast woodlands and fields available on site. Boat and water work for wildlife enforcement K9's is conducted on lakes, ponds and the Roanoke River. Wildlife is abundant and scenario training is varied and comprehensive.
