All police K9 training courses can be taught as single courses or combined with another course. Determining single-purpose K9 training or dual-purpose K9 training will depend on your department's needs. Click the following highlighted links for information in helping decide what type training is most suitable for your K9 program and how to determine quality training.

Our police K9 training courses all have the same foundation.....solid Obedience. Obedience training is the common thread that runs through all police K9 training. Obedience training not only builds a strong handler/K9 relationship but also builds a strong work ethic that enables the dog to pass our rigid police K9 certification requirements. Solid obedience training develops the control that today's police K9 handler must have of his/her working dog. The root cause of many of the problems police K9 handlers experience in the handling of their dogs on the street is a poor obedience foundation. Any K9 handler graduating from our police K9 training courses will have absolute off-leash control of the dog in all working tasks and all working environments.

All courses include training for both handler and dog. Handlers receive extensive classroom and field training to prepare them for the role of a police K9 handler. Handler classroom training includes but not limited to such topics as:

- K9 training methodology
- Canine olfactory system
- Scent composition and scent detection
- Handling techniques
- Search techniques
- Care and first aid for the canine
- Legal aspects of K9 deployment including recent case law
- Courtroom testimony
- Maintenance training
- Record keeping

We can supply the dog for the training course or the client may supply a suitable dog. Personnel should be carefully screened to determine if they will be suitable police K9 handlers. We will be glad to assist you in this selection process. Please contact us for training schedules and course pricing.
